Galaxy Gas Trend: Here’s All About The New Cannister Of Nitrous Oxide Which Teens Are Inhaling

The viral TikTok trend involving “Galaxy Gas” is causing concern due to its dangerous misuse.

Galaxy Gas is a brand that sells flavoured canisters of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, which is typically used in whipped cream dispensers.

What is Galaxy Gas Trend?

Recently, teens have been using these canisters for recreational purposes by inhaling the gas, leading to health risks.

Nitrous oxide is supposed to be used for medical or food-related purposes, but people inhale it to get high.

Dr. Bruce Ruck from the New Jersey Poison Control Center explains that inhaling this gas can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and other dangerous side effects.

While Galaxy Gas offers the product in fun flavours like blue raspberry and strawberry, the flavours don’t make the gas any safer.

They could make teens more interested in trying it. Buying nitrous oxide is regulated in some places, such as New Jersey, where people must be at least 19 years old to buy it for food preparation.

However, flavoured Galaxy Gas canisters are available online without strict age checks, making it easy for teens to get them.

Inhaling nitrous oxide can be harmful to your health. It reduces the amount of oxygen that goes to your brain, which can lead to dizziness, poor decision-making, and, in severe cases, brain damage or death.

People who use it may also lose coordination, feel nauseous, or even pass out. Long-term misuse can cause a vitamin B12 deficiency, leading to nerve damage, and in extreme cases, oxygen deprivation can result in heart attacks or sudden death.

Some TikTok videos show teens using Galaxy Gas in risky situations, like in classrooms, where one person even collapsed after inhaling the gas. Doctors warn that if someone loses consciousness, has trouble breathing, or turns blue around their lips or fingertips, it’s critical to get medical help right away.

The misuse of nitrous oxide is a serious issue that can lead to life-threatening consequences.
